Welcome to Early Years
The Early Years at Luddendenfoot Academy provides children with a, safe, supporting and challenging environment. We offer all children rich learning experiences both inside and outside the classroom. We support and nurture them to use their imagination freely, to develop social, emotional and communication skills that give them the confidence and aspiration to reach and go beyond their potential.
Learning is through a mixture of hands-on experiences, play-based and adult-led input. We work in partnership with parents, sharing their knowledge and experiences to build on and extend children’s learning in the classroom.
The Early Years curriculum is purposefully designed to meet the needs of our children as well as preparing them for a seamless transition into Key Stage 1. Language development is at the heart of our curriculum which consists of everything we want the children to experience, learn and achieve. We recognise learning is very individual and our team of experts use accurate and proportionate assessment to make informed decisions about what a child needs to learn and be able to do next.
Personal, social and emotional Development (PSED) underpins our whole curriculum. Our School’s MIRROR values are promoted and rewarded throughout school. We support children to have a positive sense of themselves, respect others, develop socially, have a positive disposition for learning and have good emotional, physical and mental health.
We work in partnership with parents, sharing their knowledge and experiences to build on and extend children’s learning in the classroom. Our class dojo portfolios enable learning at home and school to be integrated. Our team of experts value parents’ contributions, supporting them to tailor learning experiences to the individual needs of the child as well as providing individual next steps.
In Early Years we value the importance of play and students are able to inquire, explore and discover within different areas both indoors and outdoors by doing free flow, student led and adult facilitated experiences.
Children enjoy a calming, enabling environment with carefully chosen resources to engage and support them in their learning. We have both an indoor and outdoor learning space with a ‘hidden gate’ into our wildlife garden, vegetable patch and outdoor classroom. We have a ‘tyre dinosaur’, trim trail, traverse wall, gigantic noughts & crosses and much more.
