Bringing Your Child To School
Regular attendance in school is essential. We work closely with our parents and carers to ensure children are in school on a regular basis. If for any reason your child is unable to attend school, please telephone the school office before 8:50 am.
The Governors and Trustees advise that parents do not book holidays during school time. Requests to authorise holiday absences must be sent to the school office before the holiday is taken. The Governors and Trustees reserve the right to instruct the LA to issue fines for taking holidays in term time.
If your child arrives later than 8:50 am, please ensure they use the main gate and entrance. They must sign in so that they are clearly identified as attending school.
Children Leaving Early
There are occasions where you may need to take your child from school during the day. In these instances, parents/carers should report to the school office, where we will arrange for your child to be brought to the main entrance area.
Children in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 must be collected at the end of the day by a known adult. Please inform the school if you have asked someone else to collect your child. At the start of every year, parents and carers are asked to complete a form stating who is able to collect their child. If another adult requests to take the child from school we will contact parents before releasing the child.
Children who are ill
When a child becomes unwell at school, every effort will be made to contact their parent/carer or the named emergency contact person. It is very important that emergency contact numbers are all kept up to date. If your number should change, please let the school office know immediately. In accordance with the health and safety policy and first aid and medication in school policy, there are several trained first aiders on the school staff who are available to deal with minor accidents.
Holidays in term time
More information can be found by clicking on the following link https://www.gov.uk/school-attendance-absence
You have to get permission from the Head of School if you want to take your child out of school during term time.
You can only do this if:
- you make an application to the Head of School in advance (as a parent the child normally lives with) and there are exceptional circumstances
It’s up to the governing body of the school how many days your child can be away from school if leave is granted.
If the absence is unauthorised then this may be passed to the local authority where a penalty notice can be issued. The local authority makes this decision.
